Point O’Woods Library

The Board has received several comments from residents expressing dismay that the library, run by the Stitham’s for 14 years, is closing. The Board discussed this and options at the March meeting. They agreed that the library adds value to the community, is used by many and offers a service that adds to the enjoyment of the beach.

The Board is happy to announce that they have decided to reincarnate the library near the parking lot entrance to be managed by the recreation commission. More info to come as plans progress. Volunteers are encouraged to contact Beth Kelly. The Stithams will provide guidance and advice based on their implementation and successful management of the library. The Board expressed appreciation for all they do to enrich our beach community.

Thanks for your comment. We always like to hear from the residents. Good news or not so good…but the not so good is important because it gives us a chance to get better where it matters to the residents.

The library is wonderful. I am so happy that it will continue. In this day and age where everything seems to be on a device, there is nothing like reading a good “old-fashioned” book on the beach! Hopefully we will all pitch in to keep it organized.

Mike aFleur is the new recreation commissioner as of 6/2/18. The library falls under his direction. He is new to the board so he may be getting oriented. Norm Stitham is assisting that effort.

I’m happy to see the library will continue to exist. I will be happy to help out if needed.
