The Wave is Back! August 2022 Edition

After a year-long hiatus, we are happy to report that The Wave is back. The Wave is a newsletter that is now produced by the Point O'Woods Administrative Office during the summer months. (Many thanks to Mary Lyons from whom the torch has been passed!) The newsletter is intended to highlight activities and events that are held between June - September, as well as celebrate the hard work of many volunteers behind the scenes who dedicate their time and efforts to this incredible beach community.

There is no way to capture all of the special activities that have occurred over the past several months, but hopefully the information shared in this edition will convey the pride we all feel for Point O’Woods! If you have items you wish to be considered for publication, or if you have any suggestions for information you would like to be included in future editions, please email the POW office at

Limited copies of The Wave will be available in the box near the library (new pavilion/playground). You can also view The Wave electronically by clicking on the link below:

Water Conservation Notice Issued

The Connecticut Water Company has notified us that effective 7/14/2022, a Stage 2 notice is currently in effect statewide. Residents and businesses are asked to voluntarily take the following measures to aid in minimizing strain on water resources:

-- Reduce automatic outdoor irrigation
-- Postpone the planting of any new lawns or vegetation
-- Minimize overall water use by fixing leaky plumbing and fixtures
-- Follow any additional conservation requests issued by water suppliers or municipalities

Thank you for your consideration and assistance with this statewide issue.

Golf Cart Use at Point O’ Woods

As a reminder, all golf carts must be registered with Point O’Woods if they are going to be used on Point O’ Woods Roads. Registration information can be found on the website under Security --> Security Forms.

  • All drivers must have a valid driver’s license.
  • All laws prohibiting minors from driving a car at certain times apply equally to golf carts.
  • Additionally, all rules applying to cars apply equally to golf carts (i.e., no reckless driving, speeding or running stop signs).

These rules are meant for safety reasons to prevent the driver, occupants and others from injury.

It is a privilege to drive a golf cart. Failure to abide by the rules may result in revocation of that privilege. A full copy of the Golf Cart Rules and Regulations can also be viewed on the website under Security --> Security Forms.

Weekly Parking Passes

Weekly parking passes are available from the POW Administrative Office on M, W, F (and every other Saturday from 7/2 - 9/10) between 9-12. If the Office is closed and you need a weekly parking pass, please visit the ice cream truck on the pavilion side of the boardwalk between 12-3. Passes are $40 per week. Cash is appreciated, but checks may be made payable to Point O'Woods Association. (Daily passes are not available.)

Car Thefts

Recent Car Thefts – June 17, 2022

About a year ago we had cars stolen from Point O’Woods.   This week cars were stolen in East Lyme and surrounding towns.  It is very likely the perpetrators will hit our community again this summer.  PLEASE remember to always remove your valuables and keys and lock your car doors.  Most cars stolen are unlocked.

Thank you.

Randy McHugh, Security Commissioner

Trash & Recycling Pick Up

Effective July 1, 2022, trash and recycling pick up at POW residences will be on Mondays. Also, please be aware that all toters must be 3 feet apart from each other and from all other obstacles (mailboxes, etc.). Plastic bags are also not allowed in recycling; please use paper bags for recyclables or dump them directly into the toter.
